About the Documentation

The documentation provided in this guide describes the expectations for creating and using TF JATS. In addition to this guide, the following documentation for NISO JATS provides a useful reference to the XML models including many examples of tagging:

In instances where there are differences between TF JATS and NISO JATS, priority should be given to TF JATS. If clarification is needed on any point, please contact Taylor & Francis Journals Electronic Production.

In this guide content models are described using either DTD syntax or RelaxNG Compact syntax. The RelaxNG Compact syntax will be familiar to users of DTDs, but is often easier to read and write. XML Schema datatypes are described using the prefix "xs:".
