Changes to TF JATS DTD and XML Schema

Change log of recent updates to the TF JATS DTD and XML Schema.

Version 1.0 update (August 2018)

This update to TF JATS version 1.0 includes the following changes:
  • Extended the list of allowed values in the pub-id-type attribute to add "submission-id" in order to capture the Submission ID of an article in <article-id pub-id-type="submission-id">.
  • Extended the list of allowed values in the related-article-type attribute on the related-article element to add "series", "response-to", and "publisher-note".
  • Extended the list of allowed values in the publication-type attribute to include "legal-case" for citations to court decisions and other legal cases.
  • Extended the list of allowed values in the publication-type attribute to include "data", and extended the list of allowed values in the person-group-type attribute to include "curator" for citations to data sets.
  • Extended the list of allowed values in the contrib-type attribute to include "chair" for conference proceedings to indicate a conference chair.

These are minor changes that should be compatible with existing TF JATS XML.

Version 1.0 update (March 2015)

This update to TF JATS version 1.0 includes the following changes:

  • Allowed element inline-formula to be used in article titles, including elements article-title, subtitle, trans-title, trans-subtitle, alt-title.
  • Extended list of allowed values in attribute contrib-type on element contrib to add "reviewing-editor", "book-review-editor", "peer-reviewer", "section-editor".
  • Extended the list of allowed values of attribute publication-type on elements mixed-citation and element-citation to add "other".
  • Extended the list of allowed values of pub-id-type attribute on article-id element to add "pmcid", "pmid".
  • Fixed an inconsistency in the XSD to match the DTD by allowing attributes rowsep, colsep, pgwide to contain any NMTOKEN.
  • Changed the default value of article attribute dtd-version to "TFJATS-1.0", and added dtd-version attribute to tf:issue-manifest root element. The value "1.0" is still allowed for compatibility with earlier TF JATS XML.

These are minor changes that should be compatible with existing TF JATS XML.

Version 1.0 update (April 2013)

This update to TF JATS version 1.0 includes the following change to support templates that rely on a root element type attribute:

  • Added attribute article-type as optional on the <article> root element.

Note to Vendors: When the /article/@article-type attribute is used it should hold an article type from the Taylor & Francis list of CATS article types, and the value should match the article type in //series-title[@content-type='article-type'].
