Opening Page Footnotes
In general, footnotes that appear on the article opening page should be captured in <author-notes> element when there is no more specific tag available. For example:
<author-notes>
<fn>
<p>Footnote text</p>
</fn>
</author-notes>
More specific tags are available for author correspondence information , acknowledgements, funding information, and license information. Author correspondence information should be tagged in <corresp> (see the section on Authors & Affiliations). Acknowledgements should be tagged using the <ack> element inside the <back> element. More specific instructions will be added to this guide for capturing funding information in <funding-statement> and related elements, and for capturing license information in <license-p> and related elements.
