Section Headings

Section headings should be tagged in <article-categories> using the <series-title> element. The section heading under which the article appears on the table of contents should be tagged in a <series-title> element with type attribute "section-heading". This will be the section heading that is used when the article is displayed online (if a section heading is not provided, article type will be used to display a section heading on tandfonline.com). For example:

<series-title content-type="section-heading">Risk Assessment Articles</series-title>

Special Cases

Some articles may appear under multiple levels of section headings (for instance, a regular department that contains multiple sections). The additional section headings can be tagged using different type attributes:

"section-superheading" – Heading that appears above the main section heading.

"section-subheading" – Heading that appears below the main section heading.

These headings may be tagged in relation to the main section heading that generates the online display. For example:

<series-title content-type="section-superheading">Departments</series-title>
<series-title content-type="section-heading">Letters to the Editor</series-title>

Section superheadings and subheadings are not displayed online.
