Data Availability Statement

A Data Availability Statement (DAS) is crucial in signposting where the data associated with an article is available, and under what conditions the data can be accessed, including links (where applicable) to the data set.

Data availability statements should be tagged as a section within the <back> element. The section element should be assigned an attribute @sec-type="data-availability”. This special section usually has a title like “Data Availability Statement”.

Within the Data Availability statement each mention of a data set, especially those where the author has provided a DOI, should be tagged using <mixed-citation publication-type="data">. The DOI, if present, should be tagged using <pub-id pub-id-type="doi">.

For example:

<sec id="s0014" sec-type="data-availability">
<title>Data availability statement</title>
<p>The data that support the findings of this study are openly available in <mixed-citation publication-type="data"><source>Zenodo</source> at <pub-id pub-id-type="doi">https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1212328</pub-id></mixed-citation>.</p>
